The Case for Creativity
I recently watched a powerful TEDx talk by Amie McNee titled The case for making art when the world is on fire, and one line struck me deeply:
“Art calms us, connects us, and gives us purpose. It heals our bodies, minds, and communities.”
Isn’t that the truth? In a world that often feels chaotic and overwhelming, tapping into creativity isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity. It’s a lifeline. Whether we’re putting brush to canvas, pen to paper, or simply arranging flowers in a vase, creative expression allows us to process our emotions, quiet the noise around us, and return to ourselves.
Creativity doesn’t have to look a certain way. You don’t have to be a “professional” artist to create. Drawing, painting, journaling, knitting, gardening, baking—these are all beautiful ways to engage with the world and your inner life. When we give ourselves permission to create, we unlock something essential. We find clarity. We remember joy. We feel alive again.
🌟 This Week’s Creativity Challenge:
Take 20 minutes this week to create something—anything—that feels nourishing to you. It could be a quick sketch, a journal entry, a handmade card, or even a few brushstrokes on a blank canvas. The goal isn’t to produce a masterpiece; the goal is to listen to your inner voice and let it speak. Afterwards, reflect: How did it feel to make space for your creativity?
And if you need a little extra inspiration, I highly recommend watching Amie McNee’s talk:

You are creative. You are enough. And what you create—no matter how small—matters.
